As prices of commodities continue to rise due to inflation and other factors, Filipinos have struggled to stick to their budgets. And purchasing the cheapest goods has been essential just for them to stay afloat.

Chicken is one of the cheapest proteins available in the market that one can purchase during these challenging times.

In Metro Manila, the cheapest whole-dressed chicken can be purchased at Commonwealth Market for as low as P150 to P155.

This was according to the price watch released by the Department of Agriculture (DA) on Monday, January 29.

Meanwhile, the priciest whole-dressed chicken in the metropolis is being sold in New Marulas Public Market which is located in Valenzuela City.  One whole chicken costs P230 a piece, the DA said.

The agriculture department monitored 29 markets in Metro Manila.

The DA said the markets covered are Agora, Bicutan, Blumentritt, Cartimar, Commonwealth, Dagonoy, Guadalupe, Kamuning, La Huerta, Las Piñas, Malabon, Mandaluyong, Marikina, Maypajo, Mega Q-Mart, Muntinlupa, Muñoz, Murphy, Navotas Agora, New Marulas, Paco, Pasay, Pasig, Pateros, Pritil, Quinta, San Andres, Taguig, and Trabajo.
