Police withheld the name of the 30-year-old victim, a resident of Barangay Poblacion 2.

His body was found in a sugarcane field in Purok Buntod, Barangay Poblacion 2.

Police Lt. Hannah Banquil, deputy chief of  the Sagay City Police Station, said the victim was last seen alive when he attended a purok fiesta early that day.

He was drunk and was on his way home when he was decapitated, Banquil said.

A resident found his body but his severed head was nowhere to be found.

Banquil believed that the perpetrators may have chanced upon the victim and added they are looking at more than one suspect in the killing.

She said they are checking the background of the victim if he had enemies or if he just ran into the perpetrators.

Banquil said they already have a person of interest but she could not elaborate further pending investigation.
