House Speaker Martin Romualdez says former president Rodrigo Duterte must face his alleged violations of the law during his administration.
Romualdez, Leyte 1st district congressman, called out Duterte on late Sunday night, Jan. 28 for alleging that President Marcos had been included on the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency's (PDEA) drug list.
This, even as the ex-president himself has been facing criminal liability for acts supposedly done during his administration.
“Please lang dapat magkaisa ang buong Pilipinas. Baka meron kayong mga concern or issues na kailangang harapin mo 'yung batas na baka nilabag mo noon sa administrasyon mo,” Romualdez said during a party leaders' caucus.
(The entire Philippines must unite. Maybe there are concerns or issues, you need to face your possible violations of the law during your administration.)
The Speaker was obviously referring to the International Criminal Court's (ICC) planned investigation on the ex-president's bloody war against illegal drugs.
“Tigilan mo na lang 'yan kasi 'yung Presidente nagtatrabaho ng maigi at nakikita ng buong mundo nagkakaisa na ang Pilipinas, mukhang kayo lang dyan sa Davao ay gumagawa nalang ng mga istorya,” he continued.
(Just stop it because the President is working hard and the whole world can see that the Philippines is united, it's only there Davao where you are making up stories.)
Duterte was chief executive from 2016 to 2022. President Marcos is his direct successor.
