CNN Philippines announced today, Jan. 29, that it will discontinue to operate on all media platforms beginning Wednesday, Jan. 31, 2024.

The announcement was made on its social media platforms. It did not say the reason for the shutdown although it was earlier reported that the news company suffered heavy financial loses.

"Turning the final page of the CNN Philippines newsroom's story. We are forever grateful for the stories we've shared, the audience we've served, and to our dedicated team for their commitment to uphold the values of truth, accuracy, fairness, and accountability. Thank you for the privilege to tell the story of the Filipino," CNN Philippines wrote.

On Thursday, CNN Philippines went viral following a report that Nine Media Corporation and CNN mutually agreed to end their licensing agreement due to significant financial losses.

Located in Mandaluyong City, CNN Philippines was launched on March 16, 2015. It is CNN's fifth local franchise in Asia.
