Police Regional Office 13-Regional Public Information Office (RPIO) chief Police Major Jennifer S. Ometer said that the rebel returnees were members of the Sandatahang Yunit Pampropaganda 21-C and Guerilla Front 16 of the Communist Party of the Philippines-NPA Northeastern Mindanao Regional Committee (NMRC).

Their identities were temporarily withheld for their security. They are under debriefing and their enrollment to the E-Clip program that provides cash and livelihood assistance is being processed.

The active support of the community greatly contributed to their surrender on Saturday, Ometer said.

Ometer said they turned themsevles in on Jan. 27 in undisclosed area in Agusan del Norte.

The PRO-13 counter-insurgency campaign also led to the arrest of a member of the NPA medical and ordnance team on Saturday.

PRO-13 Director Police Brig. Gen. Kirby John B. Kraft identified the surrenderer as alias Senyang and Mekay, 40, of the Regional Operational Command of the CPP-NPA Northern Central Mindanao Regional Committee (NCMRC).

Senyang was arrested in a hospital here where she is being treated after she was wounded in an encounter with soldiers on January 24 in Barangay Bitan-agan, Butuan City, Agusan del Norte.

Kraft said Senyang has a standing warrant for murder dated October 5, 2015, issued by the Regional Trial Court, Branch 27, Gingoog City, Misamis Oriental, with no bail recommended.
