The Department of Agriculture (DA) reported that many farmers in Davao and Caraga suffered production losses in agriculture and fisheries due to the shear line.
In a statement, the DA-Disaster Risk Reduction and Management (DRRM) recorded around P136.56 million in losses, affecting 6,923 farmers in the two regions.
Over 1,141 metric tons (MT) of agriculture production within 9,043 hectares, which was composed mostly of rice and corn during its beginning stages, were damaged by the weather phenomenon.
The DA has begun assessing the damages by providing the worth of rice, corn, and other vegetable seeds that cost P18.5 million for replanting.
The Agricultural Credit Policy Council (ACPC) has also made a loan program available for the affected farmers with the Survival and Recovery (SURE) Loan.
According to the agency, the SURE loan would allow farmers to borrow up to P25,000 with a three-year term repayment at zero interest.
Lastly, the DA ensured that the Quick Response Fund (QRF) would assist with the rehabilitation of the damaged lands in the Davao and Caraga regions.
