Actor Aga Muhlach has been hailed as the King of Romance-Drama due to his captivating performances in both TV and film.

Despite his success in portraying various roles, Aga dreams of playing a gay character.

During the media conference for his comeback film "Ikaw Pa Rin ang Pipiliin Ko" at the Viva Cafe on Jan. 23, Aga shared that he wanted to do this kind of role for a long time.

"This is one of the roles, I haven't done and I've been wanting to do, but then sabi nga natin, let's see for the right time kasi marami ng stories about d'yan. Nasa Star Cinema pa lang ako pinipilit ko na yung ganitong project, sinabi ko na siya dati pa kila Tita Malou," Aga, 54, said.

(I have been wanting to take on this particular role, but I wanted to make sure that the timing was right as there are many similar stories out there. During my time with Star Cinema, I have been advocating for projects like this, and I have also discussed it with Tita Malou.)

Although Aga did not mention any names of the younger actors he wanted to work with, he expressed openness to taking on the role at the right time.

Working with Julia Barretto

Working with Julia has been easy for Aga despite their age gap.

"Magpapasalamat ako for Julia for making it easy talaga, she really made it easy for me kasi ang galing niya. Yung character niya sa film bagay na bagay sa kanya, so all I had to do was to react on her," Aga said.

(I will be thankful to Julia for making it easy for me. She made it easy for me because she is great. Her character in the film is perfect for her, so all I had to do was react to her acting.)

Director Denise O'Hara mentioned that it wasn't a challenge for her to build chemistry between Aga and Julia while filming.

"Nagclick agad sila, hindi namin pinilit yung chemistry between them kaya sobrang organic nung scenes nila sa movie," director Denise said.

(They clicked immediately; we didn't force the chemistry between them, so their scenes in the movie were very organic)

For its Valentine’s offering, Viva Films proudly presents Julia and Aga in a bittersweet film, “Ikaw Pa Rin ang Pipiliin Ko," by Gawad Urian Best Director Denise O’Hara.

After an encounter in a bar where a drunken Jas (Barretto) sang off-key and Michael (Muhlach) bluntly told her, these two strangers cross paths again at a chorale practice. Jas is surprised to see that Michael is their new musical conductor.

The choir is set to perform in a concert honoring George Canseco, one of the best sentimental music makers of his time.

The film also stars Cindy Miranda as Leslie, Michael’s tired and detached wife, and Nonie Buencamino as Mang Danny, Jas’ father, who used to be a musician on a cruise ship.

Frost Sandoval as Elijah, Jas’ brother; Boboy Garrovillo as the university dean, Rafa Siguion Reyna as one of the board members of the choral group; and Jas’ fellow choir members are Nicole Omillo, Jean Kiley, Taneo Sebastian, Jimmy Marquez, and Janine Teñoso; and MJ Cayabyab as a store owner.

"Ikaw Pa Rin ang Pipiliin Ko" opens in cinemas nationwide on Feb. 7.
