Pasay LGU holds Sto. Nino grand procession

The Pasay City government and the Congregation of del Nombre de Jesus Inc. paraded more than 500 images of Sto. Nino on the city's roads on Sunday, Jan. 29.

Pasay City Mayor Emi Calixto-Rubiano serving as Hermana Mayor said the grand procession of more than 500 images of Sto.Nino started at around 3:00 p.m. passing in front of Pasay City Hall.

Rubiano said around 90 decorated and colourful floats of images of Sto. Nino passed in front of Pasay City Hall and paraded and it will end at Jalandoni corner Sotto Sts. besides the Star City.

The mayor who is a devotee of baby infant Jesus, paraded her image of Sto. Nino de Palaboy during the grand procession.

Rubiano said 100 policemen under the supervision of Col. Mario Mayames, Pasay City police chief, were deployed with augmentation of 45 from Army

She said the deployment was made to ensure the peaceful and orderly celebration of the grand procession for the feast of Sto. Nino.

The mayor added ambulances were also deployed around to ensure the safety of thousands of devotees who joined the procession.

She said the exhibit of images of Sto. Nino at the Pasay City Astrodome on Jan. 18 to 26 was followed by a fiesta mass on Jan. 27.
