Man fatally bitten by snake in Ilocos Sur

BANTAY, Ilocos Sur – An 18-year-old man died as a result of a snake bite in Barangay Capangdanan here on Friday, January 26.

Police identified the victim as Joross del Castillo of Barangay Capangdanan.

Del Castillo stepped on a brown snake while on his way to visit their rice field.

The snake bit the victim’s foot before escaping.

Del Castillo’s companions tied the victim’s foot to control the spread of the venom.

He was taken to the hospital to but he died a few minutes after arriving due to the unavailability of anti-venom.

Del Castillo’s relatives were saddened by his death.  They appealed to the local government to procure anti-venin  in case of emergency.
