Man hacked dead by drinking buddy in Negros

BACOLOD CITY – A 19-year-old man was hacked dead by his drinking buddy due to a misunderstanding in Sitio Kanyabaka, Purok Old Pinggot, Barangay Pinggot, Ilog, Negros Occidental on Thursday, January 25.

Police identified the victim as Bonie Cordova of Barangay Canlamay, Ilog.

Police Major Joseph Partidas, Ilog police chief, said the victim and the 24-year-old suspect, along with some friends, were having a drinking session at the suspect’s house when they decided to look for frogs.

However, after a few hours, the suspect came home with a bolo and said that he hacked the victim and left him beside the sugarcane field.

The victim sustained multiple hack wounds in the back and neck.

Partidas said the victim and the suspect might have figured in a misunderstanding as they were drunk while they were searching for frogs.

He said the suspect is still at large. The incident was reported to the police the following day, Friday, January 26.
