AN AWOL soldier killed a colleague in Labrador, Pangasinan on Friday, January 26.
Police Col. Jeff Fanged, Pangasinan police chief, identified the victim as Technical Sgt. Marianito Bolante, 47, assigned to the Army First Scout Ranger Regiment in Camp Tecson, Barangay Tartaro, San Miguel, Bulacan.
Bolante and five other Rangers arrived at the house of the suspect, Master Sgt. Henry Malong Quiajado, also of the same unit, at about 8 a.m. to discuss his Absence without Official Leave status.
A heated argument erupted and Quiajado drew a gun and fired at Bolante, who died on the spot due to multiple bullet wounds. The victim’s companions were unhurt and returned fire.
