Japan confers Order of Rising Sun on former PHILJEC chairman
The Japanese government has given recognition to Egmidio Cesar Jose, the former chairman of Philippine-Japan Economic Cooperation (PHILJEC), for his vital role in organizing and strengthening ties between business communities from both countries.
On behalf of His Majesty Emperor Naruhito, Japanese Ambassador to the Philippines Koshikawa Kazuhiko conferred on Jose, who is also an entrepreneur, the Order of the Rising Sun, Gold Rays with Neck Ribbon in a ceremony at the Japanese residence in Makati City on Wednesday, Jan. 24.

According to the embassy, Jose’s recognition is a testament to his “outstanding dedication and remarkable achievements in fostering economic cooperation and collaboration between Japan and the Philippines.” Jose’s commitment to the bilateral ties between both nations was displayed in multiple occasions throughout the years, it added.
That included “his leadership during the 33rd Joint Meeting of the Japan-Philippines Economic Cooperation Committee in Tokyo in 2015, contribution to the growth of the automotive sector in the Philippines, and active promotion of the stable operation of Japanese businesses, especially during the onslaught of COVID-19,” the embassy said.
During the ceremony, Kazuhiko commended Jose in for his relentless efforts in contributing to our countries’ stronger economic ties.
He also expressed hope that Jose would continue inspiring other Filipino innovators, who aim to “develop creative solutions to address pressing issues in our society and participate in nation building.”
