CNN Philippines to address shutdown rumors

CNN Philippines is reportedly shutting down after nine years and is set to make an announcement.

On Thursday, CNN Philippines went viral following a report that Nine Media Corporation and CNN mutually agreed to end their licensing agreement due to significant financial losses.

CNN Philippines, located in Mandaluyong City, was launched on March 16, 2015. It is CNN's fifth local franchise in Asia.

A report by GMA News said that employees of CNN Philippines were concerned about the security of their jobs amid reports that the TV network will soon shut down.

According to a memo to all CNN Philippines personnel, staff of the media company were requested to attend a General Assembly on Monday, Jan. 29, 2024, the same report added.
