Police identified the victims as John Paul Montaño, 35, a bodyguard, and Christopher Mondejar, 18, residents of Barangay Mansilingan here.
Police Capt. Andy Ofalia, head of Police Station 7, said the victims were on their way to Montaño’s workplace in Barangay Punta Taytay on board a motorcycle when they were tailed by a car with two or more unidentified armed men on board.
The victims, who came from a drinking session, sped away but were cornered in Barangay Alijis and shot.
Victims were found beside their motorcycle with bullet and slash wounds and were taken to Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital (CLMMRH) here where they were declared dead.
Recovered from the crime scene were seven fired cartridge cases for a 9mm firearm, four cartridge cases for a .45 caliber pistol, and a knife.
Ofalia said they already have persons of interest in the incident.
He said they are looking into grudges as a possible motive as Montaño had previous complaints for physical injuries and was allegedly involved in shooting and mauling incidents in the past.
Ofalia said the car used by the perpetrators will be subjected to follow-up investigation.
