BACOLOD CITY – The city government of Bago in Negros Occidental turned over P4.55-million worth of firearms, ammunition, and accessories to the Bago City Police Station to boost peace and order in the city.

Mayor Nicholas Yulo and Vice Mayor Ramon Torres led the turnover at the mayor’s office early this week.
Given to lawmen headed by Police Lt. Col. Jay Malong were eight assault rifles, 13,000 bullets, 5,000 9mm heads, five pounds of gun powder, 5,000 9mm primer, an ammunition reloader, eight tactical ballistic vests, eight combat helmets, eight plate, one ballistic shield, eight Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) uniform, eight tactical boots, and one battering ram.
According to the city government, these were purchased as support to the local police, particularly its newly-formed SWAT team.
Yulo said that this will help the police station in its bid to ensure peace and order in the community.
Malong thanked the city government for their support to the police force. “It is a big boost to the morale of the police personnel in the city,” Malong said.
Also present during the turnover were Councilors Maria Josefa Matti, Jake Patrick Torres, and Joseph Colmenares, ABC President Jovito Gahaton, and General Services Officer Engr. Leo Pahilanga.
