The Provincial Public Affairs Office (PPAO) on Thursday, Jan. 25 said the provincial government of Bulacan (PGB) headed by Governor Daniel R. Fernando distributed fishing supplies to 641 Bulakenyo fisherfolks.
The Distribution of Livelihood Assistance to Fisherfolks program was spearheaded by the Provincial Agriculture Office and was held at Bulacan Polytechnic College Covered Court in the City of Malolos, Bulacan on Wednesday, Jan. 24.

A total of 483 gillnets, 108 coolers, and 50 marine engines were distributed to 641 Bulakenyo fisherfolks from the municipalities of Bulakan, Calumpit, Hagonoy, Obando, Paombong, and the City of Malolos.
According to Fernando, the fisherfolks have contributed to the local economy’s progress and the distribution of livelihood assistance to fisherfolks is crucial in addressing the overall wellbeing and resilience of fishing communities.
“Patuloy lang po tayong nagpapaabot ng tulong para sa ating mga kapwa mangingisda dahil sa kanilang hanapbuhay ay nabibigay hindi lamang ng kanilang pangunahing kita para sa kanilang pamilya kundi pati na rin ng pagkain para sa marami. Sa ating pagkikipagtulungan, maaari nating mapanatili ang kanilang kabuhayan at mahalagang gampanin sa ating lalawigan,” (We continue to extend help to our fellow fishermen because their livelihood puts food on their table. With our cooperation, we can preserve their livelihoods and play an important role in our province's growth),” Fernando said.
