The lecture also aimed to provide knowledge on how to safely interact with migratory birds.

Justin Albert de Ramos, chief of the Coastal Resources and Foreshore Management Section (CRFMS-DENR-NCR), discussed the uses of optical instruments, standards and rules, and tips on bird identification, bird watching, and bird counting.

Cayetano, Councilor Ed Prado, and the participants also engaged in bird-watching with binoculars and spotting scopes along the floating “kubos” (nipa hut), with the assistance of DENR personnel.

A total of 132 birds from eight species were seen during the event, including Rock Doves (Feral Pigeons), Whiskered Terns, Little Egrets, Javan Pond Herons, Common Kingfishers, Collared Kingfishers, Barn Swallows, and Eurasian Barn Sparrows.
