The Southern Police District (SPD) reported that a total of 1,393 law offenders were arrested in one day during an intensified anti- crime drive conducted by the police units in the southern part of Metro Manila.
According to SPD Director Brig. Gen Mark Pespes, 20 wanted persons, 14 law offenders, 13 drug suspects, and nine illegal gamblers were arrested on Jan. 24.
Pespes said the diligent operations, conducted by police stations under the SPD, seized 43.27 grams of shabu worth P294,236.00 from the13 arrested drug suspects.
He said the 14 other offenders were arrested for violence against women and their children, exploitation and discrimination, malicious mischief, illegal possession of a bladed weapon, physical injury, rape, robbery, theft, and illegal possession of firearms.,
The SPD chief said two .40 caliber 40, two .38 caliber revolver, and two .9mm were confiscated.
Pespes said nine were arrested for playing an illegal card game (pusoy) and confiscated from them were sets of playing cards and P2,530 bet money.
He said 1,327 individuals were arrested for violation of several city ordinances.
The SPD chief said appropriate complaints against the arrested suspects are now being prepared for filing in court.
