Rains to persist over Luzon due to shear line, 'amihan'
The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) on Thursday, Jan. 25, said shear line may still bring rain showers to the eastern portion of South Luzon and Visayas, while the northeast monsoon, locally known as "amihan," may bring light rains to the rest of Luzon.

PAGASA said the Bicol Region, Southern Quezon, Oriental Mindoro, Romblon, Marinduque, Aklan, Capiz, and Eastern Visayas will have cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms caused by shear line---a weather system where the cold northeasterly winds and warm easterlies converge.
PAGASA said flash floods or landslides may occur in these areas due to moderate to heavy rains.
In Cagayan Valley, Aurora, and the rest of Quezon, cloudy skies with rains may be felt where flash floods or landslides may also occur in times of moderate to heavy rains due to "amihan."
In the Cordillera Administrative Region, cloudy skies with light rains may prevail, while Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon will experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains caused by "amihan."
Meanwhile, the rest of the country will also expect partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers due to localized thunderstorms.
The public was also warned of flash floods or landslides that may occur in the affected areas during severe thunderstorms.
