Marcos lauds pilot testing of new K to 10 curriculum in 35 schools
President Marcos has lauded the Department of Education (DepEd) for the pilot testing of the new K to 10 curriculum in at least 35 schools in the country.

Speaking at the DepEd’s Basic Education Report (BER) 2024 on Thursday, Jan. 25, Marcos expressed elation over the pilot test of the new curriculum which aims to “decongest” the present curriculum.
“We are decongesting the curriculum, with a focus on the development of foundational skills. I’m happy that the DepEd is piloting a new K to 10 curriculum in 35 schools across the region,” he said.
The K to10 curriculum was pilot tested in 35 schools in Ilocos Region, Cagayan Valley, Central Visayas, Central Mindanao, Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR), National Capital Region (NCR) and Caraga.
In his speech, the President also commended Vice President Sara Duterte, who heads the DepEd in a concurrent capacity, for supervising the DepEd, which is one of the country’s biggest government agencies with the largest constituency and with the “most difficult mandate.”
He noted that the BER 2024 was "candid, clear, comprehensive, and quite compelling."
"So, certainly milestones achieved so far deserve our congratulations. Daghang salamat, Vice President Inday Sara, [for] your stewardship of the biggest agency, with the largest constituency, and, I would say, most difficult mandate," Marcos told Duterte.
"It is not easy to reboot a system with millions of moving parts that are all closely interconnected, in which the failure of one part leads to the entire ecosystem failing. As your report has shown, the building blocks of a modern, responsive educational system have now been laid. It is something we have waited for for many, many, many years," he added.
The Chief Executive also urged the Education department to continue with its mandate to ensure an excellent quality education for all, saying his instruction is simply: Padayon! Padayon! Padayon!”
He then assured DepEd that his administration will continue to support all the agency’s endeavors.
