Manila Mayor Honey Lacuna-Pangan announced that the local government will sponsor another free mass wedding ceremony slated in June.

The city government also recently announced the opening of registrations for Kasalang Bayan, which will be held on Valentine's Day.

It noted that both mass wedding ceremonies will be free for couples who have completed the required documents.

Mayor Honey invited couples who have been living together to join the mass wedding offered by the local government.

She said interested couples may start to register by reporting to the Manila Civil Registry Office (CRO) or sending a message to the City Civil Registry Office-Manila Facebook page to get a list of requirements.

CRO Hear Encar Ocampo said the registrants will be entertained on a "first come, first serve" basis due to limited slots.

Lacuna-Pangan said that couples can choose whether to get married in civil rites or church.

Last year, the mayor solemnized the marriage of 102 couples in the civil mass wedding ceremony, and sponsored the church wedding of 60 couples.

"Di lang namin sagot, 'yung suot nila at mapapangasawa nila (The only thing we don't sponsor is what they wear and who they marry)," the lady mayor said in jest.

Mayor Honey assured the couples that the city government would take care of documentary expenses, wedding rings, candles, flowers, cord, veil, arrhae, venue, transportation, and reception, among others.

She said the couples do not have to spend a single centavo to legalize their union.

The mayor had been sponsoring mass wedding ceremonies since she was city councilor and vice mayor to help unmarried couples legalize their union.
