COLOR ME GORGEOUS For adding some flair to your eyes, try using some eyeshadow

Glam and natural style are in, according to a makeup trend report.
And so are skincare-infused cosmetics, according to makeup artist Yra Mantaring, a graduate of the Makeup Artistry Program at the Center for Aesthetic Studies, as this year’s main focus is achieving ethereal and healthy-looking skin, as well as the shift to purchasing more functional and multi-purpose products, which today’s consumers consider a sustainable move.

KEEP IT CHILL The brow game this year is leaning into relaxed, fluffy, and undone brow look.

Here, Yra, who specializes in editorial makeup for digital campaigns, shares her go-to products, top techniques and tips, and recommended looks for 2024.
Fresh looks dominate the trends, so think cloud skin, think gentle matte, which you can achieve by applying serum foundation and creamy concealer over the blemishes. Go for a comfortable-looking soft and blurred touch.
But 2024 isn’t only about the glowing complexion, it’s also about the eyes, metallic, shimmery for evening, with white, silver, gray, and taupe shadow swiped across the lid. Take a look at the diverse range of cool-toned eyeshadows in cream, powder, and liquid formulations in this season’s collections already available at your go-to stores.

MAKE THEM POP A single pop of color can be a statement to the look by strategically placing it on the eyes or lips

This year, the saturated bright pink flush of 2023 has given way to the muted nudes and warmer blushes that now prevail, just like shades of desaturated peach and neutral sides, which create a delicate and smooth mark. Nevertheless, according to Yra, a homegrown talent from the De La Salle College of Saint Benilde (DLS-CSB) Fashion Design and Merchandising Program, vibrant hues are still very around around, although minimalism is back.

As for eyebrows, the overly manicured, defined, and laminated structure is out. In its place, eyebrows are getting fluffier, more relaxed, looking almost undone. Yra advices against over-tweezing or even trimming to achieve the unfinished look on your eyebrows. Just use a brow gel to follow the natural shape of your brows and fill in any sparse areas, she says.
A pop of tint speaks volumes on the eyes or the lips. Top off the barely-there base with dashing lashes, a graphic eyeliner, or a classic red lip.

MONO REIGNS SUPREME Monochromatic makeup, which has users multi-tasking materials on eyes, lips, and cheeks in the same color, is the new go-to for 2024

The easy-to-recreate and very accessible monochromatic makeup this 2024 is all about the use of the same materials and pigment on eyes, lips, and cheeks, says Yra, who recommends checking out the video-sharing application TikTok, which has many other accounts offering many makeup strategies you might find perfectly doable in your case. One particular account she loves is Douyin, a famous Chinese makeup method well-favored this year. Named after the Chinese term for TikTok, Douyin mimics doll-like features, replete with plenty of sparkles and shimmers on the eyes.
