European Union (EU) to the Philippines Ambassador Luc Veron had his first batok tattoo when he met Apo Whang-Od in Kalinga.
In his post on X, Veron shared about his experience when he met Whang-Od, a traditional tattoo artists of the Butbut tribe, and when he witnessed the tradition of the province.

“What an incredible experience it was to meet Apo Whang-Od, the esteemed mambabatok and protector of a tradition that has been passed down for centuries,” Veron said.
He posted a photo of him getting Whang-Od’s three-dot signature tattoo.
“I wholeheartedly endorse her for the prestigious National Living Treasures Award in the Philippines,” he added.
Veron also posted a video of an Igorot dance performance, which he said was important to understand each sides’ culture.
