Over two million jobseekers were assisted and eventually hired through the assistance of Public Employment Service Offices (PESOs) in 2023, the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) said.
In a statement, Labor Secretary Bienvenido Laguesma said the employment of 2.4 million jobseekers translates to a 92 percent placement rate across the country.
last year, Laguesman said around 181,126 youth acquired work experience under the Special Program for Employment Students, Government Internship Program, and JobStart Philippines Program.
In addressing job-skills mismatch, the DOLE offered timely and relevant information on future labor market conditions to nearly 4.9 million people.
In terms of apprenticeship and training, more than 1.6 million individuals were enrolled in various technical-vocational education and training programs, and over 1.3 million of them earned their degrees from those programs.
Under the DOLE Integrated Livelihood Program, about 153,000 workers received livelihood assistance, while around 3.036 million beneficiaries received emergency employment under the Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged Workers Program.
Laguesma said the reduced standards and application procedure, inclusivity in targeting beneficiaries, and extended package of help all contributed to improved program execution.
