Cops confiscate over P800,000 shabu in QC


More than P800,000 worth of alleged shabu was seized by Quezon City Police District (QCPD) personnel in three separate buy-bust operations in the city from Monday to Wednesday, Jan. 22-24.

Lt. Col. Resty Damaso, QCPD Fairview Station (PS 5) identified one of the suspects as Fredmark Gicana, 36, a resident of Sta Monica, Novaliches, Quezon City.

PS 5 said that personnel of its Tactical Motorcycle Riders Unit (TMRU) who were conducting anti-criminality patrol along Commonwealth Avenue  near Puregold North Commonwealth in Brgy. Greater Fairview at around 10:30 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 22, flagged down the motorcycle driven by the suspect when they noticed a handgun tucked on his waist.

It added that the suspect tried to flee but was immediately cornered and arrested by the operatives when he fell off the pavement.

Seized from him were 70 grams of shabu worth P476,000.00, an Armscor cal. 45 pistol with one magazine, three cal. 45 ammunition, one handgun holster, a sling bag, two cellular phones, a weighing scale, and his Honda Click125i motorcycle.

Meanwhile, a buy-bust operation launched by the QCPD Novaliches Police Station (PS 4) in Barangay Bagbag led to the arrest of another suspect identified as Joel David, 22.

Police said the buy-bust  was conducted at 1:30 a.m. on Jan. 23, in front of Galicias Lugawan along Quirino Highway, Brgy. Bagbag, Novaliches, Quezon City.  

A police officer posed as a  buyer and bought P7,500  worth of shabu from David which led to his arrest.

Seized from the suspect were 25 grams of shabu valued at P170,000, a cellphone, a coin purse, and the buy-bust money.

The QCPD Payatas Bagong Silangan Station (PS 13) also collared a man and his wife after they yielded P238,000 worth of alleged shabu in Barangay Payatas B on Thursday, Jan. 24.

Lt. Col. Leonie Ann Dela Cruz, PS 13 commander, identified the suspects as Esmeraldo Masucol Medina, 31, and Joan Amongos Medina, 32, both residents of Brgy. Pasyatas B, Quezon City.
 

Report showed that the PS 13, in coordination with the  Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency-Quezon City (PDEA-QC), launched the entrapment against the suspects  at 2:30 PM of Jan. 24, 2024 on Sierra Madre St., Brgy. Payatas B, after receiving information about the illegal drug peddling activities of the suspects.

A police officer acted as a poseur buyer and bought P500 worth of shabu from the suspects which resulted in their arrest.

Confiscated from the suspects were more or less 35 grams of shabu valued at P238,000, a coin purse, two cellular phones, and the buy-bust money.

All the suspects will be charged for violation of Republic Act  9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 before the Quezon City Prosecutor’s Office, police said.
