BACOLOD CITY – A beacon of hope.
Thus said Mayor Salvador Escalante Jr. here of the newly constructed light house or parola turned over by the city government to the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) led by Capt. Weniel Azuna, head of PCG District Western Visayas, in Barangay Banquerohan, this city, on Wednesday, January 24.

Escalante said that the lighthouse signals that Cadiz is beyond ready to welcome more investors to come, be on land or sea.
It will play a vital role to the flourishing fishing industry, among other business ventures here, he added.
Escalante said the light house will cement the formidable partnership between the city and PCG.
The city government spent P10 million for the construction of the facility, which is surrounded by giant armor rocks to enable it to withstand bad weather and big waves.
Situated in the middle of the sea and 100 meters away from the two-hectare Cadiz City Commercial Port (CCCP), it attracts people during night time and thus can be considered as a tourism attraction, Escalante said.
It will also compliment the city's newest investment and tourism branding: "Cadiz City: Land of Splendid Opportunities."
The light house sets a welcoming light for potential investors to come and invest in Cadiz, Escalante said. "And it's deemed necessary to construct such in order to proceed to the final decommissioning of the old parola situated at the mouth of Hitalon River," the mayor added.
Azcuna thanked Escalante for pursuing the construction of the new parola that symbolizes hope and progress in Cadiz.
