Bulacan police hold Remembrance Ceremony for SAF 44

The Bulacan Police Provincial Office held a Remembrance Ceremony for the 44 members of the Special Action Force (SAF) at Camp General Alejo Santos in the City of Malolos, Bulacan on Thursday, Jan. 25.

The wreath-laying ceremony was led by Col. Relly B. Arnedo, Bulacan Police Provincial Director, together with Lt. Sandymar N. Antonio, Officer-in-Charge (OIC) 24th Special Action Company, 2nd Special Action Battalion (2SAB), and PNP-SAF. 

Arnedo emphasized the importance of never forgetting the SAF 44's extraordinary display of courage and patriotism during the terrorist operation in Mamasapano. 

He said the heroism of the 44 SAF troopers who died in the clash with terrorist groups in Mamasapano, Maguindanao nine years ago was also remembered during rites at the Police Regional Office in San Fernando, Pampanga.

A wreath-laying ceremony was held at the PRO3 Heroes’ Monument, Camp Olivas, City of San Fernando, Pampanga at 9 a.m. led by Maj. Gen. Belli B. Tamayo, Director for Personnel and Records Management and Brig. Gen Jose S. Hidalgo Jr..

The highlight of the event was the reading of the Chief PNP’s message which gave emphasis to the sacrifice of the SAF 44 which serves as a challenge to the police force.
 

“The Mamasapano incident stands as a stark reminder of the challenges and risks our law enforcement officers face daily in the pursuit of safeguarding our nation and its citizens. May their sacrifice serve as a challenge to us all. A challenge to continue their heroism, to embody greatness, and to act with honor and love for our country,” PNP Chief Gen. Benjamin Acorda said.
