30 SK officials test negative for drugs

TUGUEGARAO CITY, Cagayan – Thirty Sangguniang Kabataan officials here tested negative for banned substances during a recent drug test conducted by the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency-Region 2.

This was announced on Thursday by the agency five days after SK Federation president and ex-officio Councilor Cerene Pearl Quilang underwent drug testing on January 20 with SK chairmen of several barangays here.

The drug test was in line with the drug awareness orientation conducted by representatives from the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA)-Cagayan regarding the impact and penalties of using illegal drugs.

About 30 SK chairmen participated in the orientation and underwent drug testing administered by the City Health Office.

The city government believes that the youth should lead an example and help authorities have drug-cleared barangays.
