Tanay LGU offers free day tour for balikbayans and OFWs


Balikbayans and overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) who are residents of Tanay, Rizal will have the chance to tour around some of the major tourist spots in the town as part of the town fiesta celebration.

The office of Mayor Rafael "Lito" Tanjuatco said Tanay residents who have returned home from abroad, either as OFWs or migrants, will have the opportunity to see some of the major attractions in this scenic rich town of Rizal Province in line with the feast day of Saint Ildefonso de Toledo and the Virgen La Purisima Concepcion (Our Lady of Guadalupe).

In a post on the social media page of the Tanay Tourism Office, the balikbayans will be toured around some of the town’s scenic spots on January 25 to 26.

Dubbed as “Salunga Na Sa Tanay!”, the two-day event includes the visit to Tanay Municipal Hall,  Gabaldon Building/Veteran’s Memorial Park, the San Ildefonso de Toledo Parish Church, and the famous Daranak Falls on Thursday, Jan. 25.
On Jan. 26, Friday, the itinerary includes visit to Wyndell’s Al Fresco Restaurant, Fresno Agro Forestry and Eco Tourist Campsite, Palaya Natural Farm and Tinucan-Cayabu River and Kape Natividad Roastery Café, and Tanay Viewpoint Garden Restaurant on January 26.

On Jan. 24, Mayor Tanjuatco and some local officials hosted a free breakfast for the Tanayan balikbayans in line with the fiesta activities.

Later in the afternoon, several marching bands from various towns in and outside the province competed in the band drill competition providing entertainment to the tourists and residents.   

Ongoing activities also include the art exhibit of the members of the Asosasyon ng Artistang Pilipino Tanay at the Rizaliano Art Gallery on Manila East Road until Jan. 30.
