The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) on Wednesday, Jan. 24 said rain showers may persist in the country due to the shear line, northeast monsoon, and localized thunderstorms.

In its 4 p.m. bulletin, PAGASA said Bicol Region, Quezon, Oriental Mindoro, Romblon, and Marinduque will have cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms due to the shear line—a weather system where the cold northeasterly winds and warm easterlies converge.
PAGASA said flash floods or landslides may occur in these areas due to moderate to heavy rains.
Meanwhile, PAGASA said the northeast monsoon, locally known as “amihan,” may bring cloudy skies with rains to Cagayan Valley and Aurora where flash floods or landslides may also occur in times of moderate to heavy rains.
In Cordillera Administrative Region, PAGASA said cloudy skies with light rains will be felt, while partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains may prevail in Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon due to amihan.
Moreover, PAGASA said Visayas and Mindanao will experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers caused by localized thunderstorms.
The public is also warned of flash floods or landslides that may occur in the affected areas during severe thunderstorms.
