NPA surrenders, arms cache found in Quezon


LUCENA CITY, Quezon – A New People’s Army rebel surrendered and an arms cache was discovered 
in separate towns in this province on Tuesday, January 23.

The surrenderer was identified as Ruelito, a member of Apolonio Mendoza Command and listed as Non-Periodic Status Report.

He turned over a caliber .38 revolver with five bullets, PVC pipes containing ammonium nitrate, cored wires, two nine-volt batteries, and three bags of nails.

Ruelito was provided an initial assistance of food packs and P2,000.

A NEW People's Army arms cache was found in Pagbilao, Quezon.

The arms cache was found in Sitio Maruhi, Barangay Pinagbayanan, Pagbilao.

It was discovered following information from a former rebel that war materials such as a caliber .38 revolver with three bullets, two PVC pipes filled with suspected ammonium nitrate, six time fuse with an estimated length of three inches, a piece blasting cap (non-electric), and a 40 mm cartridge high-explosive.

The arms cache belonged to the Southern Tagalog Regional Party Committee (STRPC).
