The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) said that registering for the Philippine Identification System (PhilSys), also known as the national ID, can be done without the need for a prior appointment.

In an effort to simplify registration services and make them more accessible, PSA Undersecretary Claire Dennis S. Mapa said that Filipinos can register at any PhilSys Registration Center without the need to set an appointment.

PSA field offices are also providing mobile registration services, like PhilSys on Wheels, which involve vehicles equipped with registration kits, to cater to Filipinos living in Geographically Isolated and Disadvantaged Areas (GIDAs).

“In any of these registration efforts, Filipinos can present their supporting documents for validation of demographic information and collection of biometric information such as fingerprints and iris scanning,” PSA said.

“Their front-facing photograph will also be captured following the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) standards for photos, which is the international standard for the issuance of national IDs,” the agency added.

As of Dec. 29, 2023, a total of 50.3 million physical PhilSys ID cards have been printed and sent out for distribution, with 45.6 million already delivered to registered individuals across the country.

On ther other hand, the number of electronic Philippine IDs issued has reached 44.5 million.

Meanwhile, the PSA is offering replacements for PhilIDs with peeled-off photos.

To request a replacement, PSA said individuals can complete a request form and submit the PhilID with the peeled-off photo at any PhilSys Registration Center.

The replacement of a PhilID with a peeled-off photo is free of charge, and the new PhilID will be provided to the registered individual, the PSA said.

“We, at the PSA, remain steadfast in our commitment to bring PhilSys services to allow Filipinos to maximize the benefits of being registered to national identification system,” Mapa said.

“We call on all Filipinos for their continued support for PhilSys and to join us as we continue working towards a Makabagong Pilipinas,” he added.
