Traffic congestion began during rush hour on Monday, January 22.

This daily traffic congestion in key parts of the downtown area caused inconvenience to motorists and the riding public.
Many have been late to work or school while others have been forced to walk.
This came as a surprise to many people as previous years of the festival did not experience heavy traffic on Mondays or that road closures were implemented in certain parts of this city as construction for the stages begun.
The actual ground situation is different from the announcements made by the Iloilo City Traffic Management Unit which claimed that actual road closures will begin on Friday, January 26.
Meanwhile, Mayor Jerry Treñas issued Executive Order No. 2024-009 suspending classes on January 26 and January 29 to enable students to compete in school-based competitions for the Dinagyang.
