Zamboanga City is currently experiencing the effects of the El Niño phenomenon based on data from the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA).

PAGASA weatherman Rodel Inclan said they are studying two models that might have a bearing on Zamboanga weather over the next few months.
The first is that the warm weather will continue until February. The other is that drought will persist until May.
A neutral weather condition is expected to happen by the end of May before the onset of the rainy season.
Inclan said that although the city is experiencing rains, the volume of rainfall recorded by PAGASA is below normal.
The Zamboanga City Water District is currently implementing water rationing in the city's central and western areas due to decreasing water levels on the Dumalon River.
