QC gov't to hold commitment ceremony for LGBTQIA+ couples
The Quezon City government announced on Tuesday, Jan. 23, that it will conduct a commitment ceremony for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer, Intersex, Asexual (LGBTQIA+) couples this year.
It said that the ceremony will be held at the Quezon Memorial Circle (QMC)on Feb. 17.
Interested couples may coordinate with the Gender and Development Council Office located at the 6th Floor, High Rise Building, Quezon City Hall (8988-4242 loc. 8739) or contact Kate Esplana (09751077320) or Jhelai Pasco (0916778346).

The activity will be the fourth commitment ceremony spearheaded by the local government for the LGBTQIA+ couples.
In 2023, around 240 LGBTQIA+ couples exchanged vows and rings during the ceremony held at the QMC.
The ceremony is part of the city's inclusive programs to support and protect the rights of the members of the rainbow community.
In June last year, Quezon City Mayor Joy Belmonte led the launch of the "Right to Care" card which allows LGBTQIA+ couples to make medical decisions for their partners.
The city has also implemented Ordinance 2357 S-2014 (Gender Fair Ordinance) that protects the rights of the LGBTQIA community in any places, basic services, as well as from gender-based violence.
