Parañaque City Mayor Eric Olivarez said the city’s public hospital, Ospital ng Parañaque-District II, received a Certificate of Quality Service marking the start of the hospital’s operation of its Animal Bite Treatment Center.
Olivarez said the certificate was issued to OSPAR-2 by the Department of Health's Metro Manila Center for Health Development on Jan. 14 with its validity lasting until January 14, 2026.
He said the certification was given after the public hospital complied with the specified standards of the DOH, including the presence of trained personnel composed of doctors and nurses that underwent training on National Rabies Prevention and Control Program (NRPCP).
The mayor lauded OSPAR 2 under Hospital Director Dr. Patrick Cruz II for the accomplishment.
“The accreditation of OSPAR 2’s animal bite treatment center reflects the commitment and dedication of the city to continue delivering quality health care services to our residents, particularly in strengthening its response to prevent and combat rabies,” said Olivarez.
Olivarez said the new facility is vital to attain a "rabies-free city."
He said aside from the animal bite treatment center, OSPAR 2 previously obtained a License to Operate last August 2023 for its additional medical services, particularly the intensive care unit, neonatal intensive care unit, dialysis clinic with nine stations, and tertiary level clinical laboratory.
