Mayor Honey OKs extension of tax payment, business permit application

Manila Mayor Honey Lacuna Pangan approved the extension of the deadline for application for business permits and licenses and payment of taxes.
"Taxes are the lifeblood of any government. That is how important taxpayers are in running the government, and they sometimes have to be treated with certain considerations," the Manila City Council (MCC) said on Tuesday, Jan, 23.
MCC passed the resolution extending the filing of applications for business permits and licenses and the payment of taxes and fees from Jan. 23 to Feb. 9 without surcharge or penalty.
The resolution was filed by Majority Floor Leader Ernesto “Jong” Isip, Jr. and was approved as Resolution No. 14, Series of 2024.
The city government encouraged the public to use Go! Manila App, a digital platform that allows users to transact with frontline city government offices in the comfort of their own homes.
Through this system, a resident can settle real property taxes online and apply for various permits, licenses, and certificates issued by the city government.
However, those who will be filing during the extension period will no longer be entitled to the 10 percent discount that was offered until Jan. 22.
Mayor Honey urged the residents who are not yet familiar with the use of the mobile app to ask for a tutorial at the help desks in shopping malls in the city.
The mayor had recently announced the six shopping malls in the city that offer a one-stop-shop for payment of real property tax and application of business permits.
