Ex-con caught in Cebu City drug sting

CEBU CITY – An ex-convict was arrested in a buy-operation in Barangay Mabolo here on Monday night, January 22.

The suspect was identified as Harold Domen Yu, 41, a native of La Carlota City, Negros Occidental but living in Barangay Mabolo.

The Drug Enforcement Unit of the Police Regional Office-Central Visayas seized at least one kilo of suspected shabu from the suspect valued at P6.8 million.

Yu was convicted in 2011 by the Regional Trial Court Branch 30 in Dumaguete City in Negros Oriental for violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

The suspect was jailed for five years at the New Bilibid Prison in Muntinlupa City. Yu was released on probation in 2016.

Police said that when the suspect was released from jail, he became the “bodegero” or in charge of safekeeping illegal drugs owned by his brother currently jailed at the Abuyog Penal Colony in Abuyog, Leyte.

Further monitoring showed that the suspect ended up running the business and was capable of selling at least two kilos of shabu a week before he was arrested, police said.
