ZAMBOANGA CITY – Forty families composed of 185 individuals lost their homes in a fire in Barangay Sangali here on Monday, January 22.

Barangay Sangali Captain Mukattil Adjail reported that the fire started from the house of a certain Salani in Purok 2 and spread to adjoining houses.
Socorro Rojas, City Social Welfare and Development Officer, said that 33 houses were totally damaged while three were partially damaged.
Rojas said that the city government immediately provided food packs, hygiene and sleeping kits, and kitchen utensils to displaced families. They also provided sacks and rice and cans of sardines for the barangay community kitchen.
Victims are staying in an evacuation center.
Arson investigators are still investigating the incident.
