A WANTED communist fighter was nabbed for frustrated murder in Himamaylan City, Negros Occidental.

The police and military apprehended “Rey,” a farmer and resident of Barangay Buenavista, through an arrest warrant dated September 26, 2023 issued by Presiding Judge Walter Zorilla of the Regional Trial Court (RTC) Branch 55 in Himamaylan City.

The court recommended a bail of P200,000 each for five counts of frustrated murder, Police Lt. Col. Anthony Grande, Himamaylan police chief, said.

Himamaylan police arrested Rey in coordination with the 94th Infantry Battalion (IB), 2nd Negros Occidental Provincial Mobile Force Company (Nocpmfc), and Regional Mobile Force Battalion (RMFB)-Western Visayas.

Grande said the suspect was a member of Central Negros 2 (CN2), Komiteng Rehiyon-Negros-Cebu-Bohol-Siquijor (KR-NCBS) Sentro de Gravidad Platoon.

Rey was tagged in an ambush where two policemen and a 15-year-old bystander was wounded in Sitio Candida, Barangay Biao, Binalbagan, Negros Occidental in February 2022.

“Our commitment to upholding the law and ensuring the safety of our communities remains unwavering,” Villaflor assured.
