Tot drowns in irrigation canal

CAUAYAN CITY, Isabela – A two-year-old boy drowned in an irrigation canal in Barangay San Roque, San Mateo, Isabela on Saturday.

Police said the victim slipped and fell into the canal while he was following his older brother and his mother was washing their dishes.

The victim’s family and neighbors helped one another to locate him. They recovered the victim and brought him to his house.

A resident reported the incident to the police and rescuers.

Rescuers conducted cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) on the victim after detecting a pulse and he was taken to the San Mateo Integrated Hospital but he died on the way.

Meanwhile, a three-year-old boy drowned in the septic tank of a piggery in Sitio Nalasin, Barangay San Marcelino, Dingras, Ilocos Norte on Friday.

His mother left him with his brother and cousin in their home to work before he went missing.

The victim was later found in the septic tank.
