At least five people were hurt after a group of drunk men allegedly started a riot in Tondo, Manila during the Sto. Niño feast on Sunday night, Jan 21.

Based on the closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage, six drunk men wearing blue shirts suddenly threw chairs and bottles at residents who were having a drinking spree on Kagitingan Street, Barangay 38 in Tondo around 11 p.m.

According to witnesses, the suspects were not residents of Tondo.

Police said miscommunication was the cause of the riot.

They said one of the suspects thought that the residents had kicked him out of the area, which prompted him to call his companions and attack the residents.

Witnesses also saw one of the suspects carrying a knife, which caused panic among the residents.

The five injured victims were immediately taken to the hospital, while the suspects fled immediately when the police arrived at the scene.

A motorcycle parked on the side of the street was also damaged during the riot.

Authorities of the barangay are still looking for the group involved in the riot.
