Insensitive and out-of-touch.

That's how House Assistant Minority Leader Gabriela Party-list Rep. Arlene Brosas described President Marcos' decision of taking a chopper ride to attend Coldplay’s “Music of the Spheres” concert at the Philippine Arena in Bocaue, Bulacan on Friday, Jan. 19.

"An ordinary Filipino endures heavy traffic while commuting via jeep and other affordable public transportation. Meanwhile, the country's President utilizes taxpayer funds to conveniently travel in a helicopter to reach a concert," Brosas said in a statement Sunday, Jan. 21.

"It was very insensitive and out-of-touch," added the Makabayan bloc member.

The lady lawmaker also said that Presidential Security Group (PSG) chief Major General Nelson Morales' justification for the use of the presidential chopper was a "sorry attempt to save face".

"The fact that President Marcos Jr. would take a chopper to go see a concert is a complete waste of public funds," she underscored.

"Mabuti pa ang concert, sasadyain talaga ng Pangulo kahit gamitin pa ang chopper. Samantala, yung mga jeepney drivers na ilang buwan na nagwewelga, ni-minsan hindi niya hinarap," she said, referring to the issue on the public utility vehicle (PUV) modernization program.

(The President went out of his way to attend a concert by using a chopper. This, as he never even face jeepney drivers who have been protesting for months now.)

Brosas insists that the Philippines is in the middle of a "mass transportation crisis".

A British rock band, Coldplay have sold over 100 million albums worldwide and are considered among the best-selling music acts of all time.
