ILOILO CITY – A power interruption has been set in this city and towns in Iloilo province on Tuesday, January 23, three weeks after a blackout at the start of the New Year caused massive inconvenience to the people.
The National Grid Corp. of the Philippines (NGCP) announced on Sunday, January 21, the four-hour power interruption from 1 a.m. to 5 a.m. on January 23.
The NGCP said the scheduled power interruption is part of the contingency plan for the January 26 to 28 highlight of the Dinagyang Festival in honor of the Santo Niño in Iloilo.
The NGCP said there will be corrective maintenance activities in a substation owned by Meralco PowerGen Corp. (MGen) which operates the coal-fired power plants in La Paz District here.
Affected will be consumers of MORE Electric and Power Corp. (MORE Power) and the Pavia substation of the Iloilo Electric Cooperative (ILECO I).
“Specific affected areas are determined by the distribution utility and electric cooperative,” the NGCP said.
“We will exert our efforts to restore power earlier or as scheduled,” NGCP added.
