DAVAO CITY – Rep. Paolo Z. Duterte here provided aid on Friday, January 19, to around 800 families in this city affected by flash flood and landslides triggered by heavy downpour from the shear line weather system.

Duterte, through the Pulong Pulong ni Pulong (PPP) program, distributed hot chicken arroz caldo (porridge) to affected residents from Matina Crossing, Catalunan, Bago Aplaya, Barangay 9-A, Barangay 2-A, Barangay 5-A, and Ma-a.
His office also gave one pack of biscuits, fresh milk, and bottled mineral water to every affected family.
Flood victims in Barangay 5-A (Bankerohan), severely affected by flooding, received food packs with canned goods, alcohol, tissue and other necessities, and rice assistance.
“We visited the affected families in evacuation centers to check them and distribute food, water, and milk to families with children. We encourage our Dabawenyos to remain vigilant. Our office is within your reach, ready to rescue and respond,” Duterte said.
Duterte said the flooding has subsided but they continuously reach out to displaced families. He added that they are just awaiting the final list of affected families from the Davao City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO).
The CSWDO is conducting the master listing, validation, and assessment of affected families. Child development workers have initiated child-friendly spaces to give psychosocial support to children during the calamity.
Last week, Duterte’s office aided 70 families affected by fire incidents in Davao City.
His staff distributed food packs and cash assistance to 11 house owners and 11 sharers in Mineral Village in Barangay 19-B in Bajada on Friday, January 12.
Fire victims in Mineral Village also received packed lunch for one week, Duterte’s staff said, adding that they aim to improve food supply of families affected by fire incidents.
Some 45 families who were victims of a fire in Sabroso Village in Barangay Ecoland received the same assistance from Duterte’s office on January 11. His staff also assisted fire victims in Barangays Bunawan District and Marapangi in Toril District on January 15.
Fire victims thanked Duterte, saying that the assistance he provided would help them cope with the loss of their properties and the disruption of their livelihood.
Duterte’s office aided 1,512 families who were fire victims last year.
The Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) here reported that they have attended to at least 15 fire emergencies since January 1.
