FDA alerts public to dangers of unregistered food products, urges caution in consumption
The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) issued a cautionary notice to the public regarding the purchase and use of 12 “unregistered food products” that have not been evaluated by the agency.

As of Jan. 19, the unregistered food products, which the FDA deemed "unsafe," include "JC’s Puro Rice Anis,” “Eat Potato Chips Kobayashi Potato Chips Sunshine Tomato Flavor,” “Hong Tai Kee Foods Niang Wumei Stuff Plums,” “ Hong Tai Kee Foods Niang Huamei Stuff Plums,” “Ad Lactic Acid Bacteria Drinks,” “Red Camia Brown Sugar,” “Hong Tai Kee Foods Strawberry Sour Candy,” “Harvey Mienie Mouse Ice Candy Mickey Mouse,” “CandyLand Beans Candy–Product in Yellow and Orange Packaging with Orange Jelly-Like Product,” “JC Puro Pepper Whole,” “JC Puro Cheese Powder,” and “JC Puro Pepper Granule.”
The FDA determined through online monitoring and post-marketing surveillance that these food products lack proper registration and corresponding Certificate of Product Registration (CPR).
Republic Act No. 9711, also known as the Food and Drug Administration Act of 2009, states that the manufacture, importation, exportation, sale, advertising, or distribution of health products without proper authorization is prohibited.

As these food products have not undergone evaluation, the agency cannot guarantee their quality and safety.
The FDA also cautioned establishments against distributing, advertising, or selling these "violative food products" until they acquire the necessary Product Notification Certificate.
