Acorda orders security arrangement for family of Catherine Camilon

Gen. Benjamin Acorda, Jr., chief of the Philippine National Police (PNP), has ordered a security arrangement for the family of missing beauty queen Catherine Camilon following the dismissal from the police service of the alleged principal suspect in her disappearance.

Acorda said the instruction was already relayed to Police Brig. Gen. Paul Kenneth Lucas, the regional director of the Police Regional Office 4A.

“We are in constant coordination with the local police, especially the Regional Director of PRO-4A, to make necessary arrangements and security measures so that the family would not worry that much,” said Acorda.

Acorda issued the statement after the family of Camilon was reported to have express concerns on their security following the dismissal of Police Maj. Allan de Castro.

De Castro was tagged as one of the suspects in the disappearance of Camilon and his dismissal was in connection with his alleged illicit affair which was the basis of the administrative case leveled against him.

Lucas earlier said that the dismissal is separate from the criminal cases being pursued against De Castro and three others in connection with the case of kidnapping and serious illegal detention.

Acorda said that as far as the PNP is concerned, the pieces of evidence they have is strong against de Castro.

“As far as the PNP is concerned we will do our best to achieve to the best of our ability that we will rid ourorganization of misfits and scalawags,” said Acorda.

Camilon was reported missing in October last year and remains in the PNP’s missing list.

The case leveled against De Castro, his personal driver and two others stemmed from the testimony of two witnesses who said they witnessed what appears to be a body being transferred from a car that turned out to be owned by Camilion to a red Honda CRV.

The hair strands and blood stains found inside the recovered Honda CRV matched with the DNA of Camilon’s parents.
