TUGUEGARAO CITY, Cagayan – The Provincial Veterinary Office (PVET) said 24 pigs died from African Swine Fever or ASF in Lal-lo, Cagayan.
Dr. Myka Ponce, PVET Veterinarian II, said they were from Barangay Alaguia and owned by two hog raisers.
These pigs were immediately buried and a massive disinfection in the area was made.
PVET had earlier said that eight pigs died in Barangay Centro Norte, Alcala and four hog raisers were affected.
Four pig farm owners in Remus, Baggao, also lost their animals.
PVET reminded hog raisers to immediately report symptoms of ASF – immediate death, not eating, and inability to stand – to their Municipal Agricultural Office for action.
