NAGCARLAN, Laguna – A two-year-old girl and a 45-year-old man were killed and 15 persons were injured after a passenger jeepney lost its brakes and crashed into multiple vehicles in Nagcarlan town in Laguna province on Friday afternoon, January 19.

The fatalities were identified as Sandra Margarette Arevalo, 2, and Fabian Audije, 45, residents of Barangay Poblacion 2 here.
Police said the jeepney driven by Dario Baldivia, 50, lost its brakes while traveling on a slightly descending section of a road in the town proper at around 5:20 p.m.
Baldivia lost control of the vehicle and rammed a tricycle, e-bike, sports utility vehicle, a truck, owner-type jeep, and two motorcycles before it stopped.
Police are set to file appropriate charges against Baldivia.
