1 dead in Tondo road mishap

A rider died in a road accident in Tondo, Manila on Saturday, Jan. 20.

The Manila Police District-Manila Traffic Enforcement Unit (MPD-MDTEU) identified the victim as Danilo Magbanua, a resident of Marilao, Bulacan.

According to the initial investigation, the victim was traveling southward on Mel Lopez Boulevard in Tondo at around 9 a.m.

Police said the victim fell from his motorcycle after it slid due to a rough road.

A tractor-truck with a trailer, which was traveling in the same lane, ran over him while he was on the ground.

The motorcycle rider sustained severe head injuries, resulting in his immediate death.

His body was brought to BVL funeral services.

Meanwhile, the driver of the truck is now under police custody and will face charges of homicide and damage to property.
